Our Journey
"Our story began in 1995, when we purchased the land and started building the foundation for what would become a trusted name in vehicle care. At that time, I was serving in the police department, which limited my ability to be directly involved in the business. However, the service center officially opened its doors on April 2, 1996, under the name Rathnayaka Service Station.
In the beginning, we had just 2 jacks and 2 washing ramps, able to accommodate only 6 vehicles at a time, and a dedicated team of 8 employees. In 2004, our commitment to quality earned us a place in the Caltex Star Lube program, recognizing us among the top service centers. With their support, we received advanced equipment and hoists, allowing us to expand beyond basic full services into areas like cut and polish and interior detailing.
In 2017, I acquired full ownership of the business and rebranded it as New Rathnayaka Service Station, transitioning it into a sole proprietorship. We further expanded our services to include body wash and vacuum, full interior services, and more.
Due to the high demand—especially with our proximity to the BOI zone—we decided to invest in efficiency. On July 25, 2018, we installed an imported robotic washing machine capable of washing a vehicle in just 10 minutes. Our staff grew to 12, and our loyal customer base continued to grow.
After 22 years, the original building had become outdated. With future generations in mind, we planned and began constructing a state-of-the-art facility in 2023. This modern space includes next-level infrastructure such as upgraded customer waiting areas, advanced washing and interior bays, mechanical zones, cut and polish sections, office areas, and more; setting a new standard in vehicle service.
During this time, I also guided my elder son into the automotive field. He had already pursued studies at Ceylon German Technical Training Institute and was completing his final year in Automotive Engineering at the University of Wolverhampton. With hands-on training and mentorship, he gained the skills to help lead and grow the business.
On December 2, 2024, we launched Transmission (PVT) LTD, marking a new chapter. My elder son, now a graduate with experience from leading companies in the automotive field, joined the business as a director. He introduced a new division focused on mechanical repairs, including engine tuning, brake system repairs, and hybrid system servicing; broadening our range of offerings and leading the transformation of the business to a top-level standard.
Today, we continue to uphold our core goal: Customer satisfaction.
My second son is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, aiming to contribute to the company's growth in the near future.
We now operate with a team of over 20 skilled professionals, including experienced mechanics, service advisors, and technicians. Our facility can handle up to 14 vehicles at once. While the name Transmission may be new, we bring over 25 years of trusted experience and a strong reputation in the industry." Journey Image 6

Founder
Witharamalage Wasantha Ranjith Jayathilaka, the visionary behind Transmission (PVT) LTD, began his professional journey as an officer in the Sri Lanka Police Department. It was during his service at the Biyagama Police Station that the idea of starting a vehicle service center first took root.
Driven by a passion for entrepreneurship and a commitment to quality service, he made the life-changing decision to retire early in accordance with Government Circular No. 44/90. In 1996, he turned his vision into reality and laid the foundation for what would become one of the region’s most trusted vehicle service centers.
Today, with over 25 years of hands-on experience and full ownership of the company, Mr. Jayathilaka continues to guide the business with integrity, innovation, and a customer-first philosophy, ensuring that Transmission remains a symbol of excellence in the automotive service industry.
